GLIMPSES OF MY HOMELAND

Mountain Rice, Brewed Coffee & Dried Fish

the mangmang
echoes at early morn

rousing the villagers
from a distant sleep.

scent of brewed coffee
soaring

dried fish and upland rice
inviting:

a humble meal, a humble life,
a humble dream.

*magmang is a bamboo instrument to wake up the villagers at dawn

Holed Ceiling

the morning sun
peeps

through the slits
of my nipa roof

touching my face
gently

like a child’s
delicate fingers

Hi Nell,

Wow, thanks a lot for appreciating my works. That's a great suggestion and maybe in due time I can reproduce some of my works not only as card but also poster and limited prints edition.

Thanks again and best regards,

Danny

hi danny!
just viewed your paintings again. they really take our breath away. we were just talking about them here in our department. may i give a suggestion? maybe you could reproduce them as greeting cards like the unicef cards. that way, more people would be able to enjoy the beauty of your magical hands.

Hi Giemar, I used different mediums in my paintings and drawings. But my most common one is oil on canvas. In my drawings I used pencil, ball pen, india ink and technical pen.

For a more accessible medium on paper - pencil, ball pen and india ink are great mediums. Charcoal pencil is also okay, except that it is limited in fluidity on lines unless you're using brush and powder charcoal.

For oil painting, which is more expensive, you can buy cheaper oil tube if you're just beginning to paint.

A drawing a day, will enhance your skill in due time.

Best,

Danny
